CircUP Squad
CircUP Squad is our performance pathway for young people aged 12–17, with entry via audition each January.
Members train together throughout the year, working towards a major performance in September, while also performing at schools and local community events.
This program builds advanced skills, confidence, and real-world performance experience in a supportive team environment.
An annual Squad fee applies.
💪 Program
Open Training
Open Training runs on Tuesdays and Sundays, offering two-hour sessions for experienced artists aged 17 years and over.
These sessions are designed for independent artists who are looking for dedicated space and time to refine skills, rehearse acts, and explore new ideas within a professional circus environment.
Participation requires prior approval, relevant experience, and independent insurance, ensuring all attendees can train safely and confidently without direct supervision.
Open Training also provides opportunities to connect and collaborate with other artists, making it an ideal space for creative development and peer learning.
This is a term-based program, with a set fee applying each term.

👥 Program
Junior Open Training
Junior Open Training is available to current participants aged 12 years and over, providing a supportive and semi-structured space to develop their creative practice.
These sessions are supervised by a qualified trainer, ensuring a safe and guided environment, while still encouraging participants to take ownership of their training and build independence.
Students can use this time to explore new skills, refine techniques, and work on individual goals, whether that’s aerials, acrobatics, manipulation, or general movement.
Junior Open Training also supports creative exploration and performance development, giving participants the opportunity to experiment, problem-solve, and grow in confidence at their own pace.
This is an ideal stepping stone for those looking to progress into more advanced training pathways, including performance opportunities such as CircUP Squad.

Our Trainers
The People Who Make Circus Happen
Our trainers bring skill, energy, care and serious safety standards to every class.
JAT Program
Junior Assistant Trainer Pathway
The JAT Program is our youth leadership and employment-readiness pathway. It gives young people structured opportunities to assist in classes, learn safe coaching behaviours, support younger students, understand workplace expectations and build confidence as emerging leaders. JATs are not board members — they are young people developing practical skills, responsibility and positive work habits through circus.
The Board
Governance With Purpose
CircUP Youth Arts Inc. is guided by a management committee and representative members who help keep the organisation safe, sustainable and community-focused. The Board supports oversight of purpose, policy, finances, risk, child safety, access, inclusion and long-term planning.
Work With Us
Professional & Emerging Artist Employment
CircUP Youth Arts Inc. supports artists, trainers, youth workers and emerging creatives.
Join the movement
We are always keen to hear from bold, creative, slightly sparkly humans who want to help young people move, play, grow and feel like they belong. Trainers, performers, workshop facilitators, roving artists, emerging artists and volunteers are welcome to send an expression of interest.
We are funky and fun — but safety is non-negotiable. CircUP Youth Arts Inc. is setting a high bar for circus training in Australia: all staff who teach aerials are required to hold recognised Working at Heights VET training, alongside internal onboarding and safe practice expectations. Acrobatics and trampoline staff must be able to provide recognised gymnastics coaching qualifications, and movement facilitators should hold dance, teaching or equivalent experience.
Not every role needs a formal qualification. We also value lived experience, creativity, community spirit, practical skill, reliability and people who know how to make a class feel safe, welcoming and wildly fun.
Support Us
Partners & Corporate Sponsorship
Partnership is more than handing over cash. It is about local businesses helping reduce the everyday costs of running a safe, inclusive and high-energy circus school for young people in Townsville.
Partner with CircUP Youth Arts
We are looking for practical, community-minded partners who can help us with the real things we use all year round — physiotherapy support, company shirts and uniforms, circus equipment, stationery, exercise clothing, cleaning supplies, printing, signage, first aid supplies, healthy snacks, water, sunscreen, maintenance support, technology, photography, marketing, event support and anything else that helps keep our on-costs down.
When businesses support CircUP Youth Arts, they are not just sponsoring a logo — they are helping young people train safely, build confidence, develop leadership skills and access creative opportunities that can shape their future.
In return, our 550+ students, families and community visitors — and growing daily — will interact with your services, brand and business throughout the year.
If this sounds like you, call us now and let’s build something bold, useful and community-focused together.
